Just returned from the Captivating…
Just returned from the Captivating Crete holiday and this has been a relaxing break compared to our usual Titan tours. The hotel is in a quiet area about a 15 minute walk into the main town. There are a couple of tavernas and two supermarkets very close to the hotel plus the hotels own shop which is reasonably priced. The room was a standard room and was adequate apart from the very small bathroom, the shower is like a capsule and there wasn't enough room in the bathroom to swing one of the many cats that were on site. The bar facing out to sea was very relaxing, it opens at 18.00 after the adjacent bar on the waters edge closes. The restaurant has a number of tables outside but it's on a first come basis and gets very busy around 7pm, we left dinner until 8pm each night and got an outside table each time. The Maitre'd may look like a mafioso but he is very good and will get you the table you want. The waiting staff are mostly good and helpful but catch them and tip them and they will remember you. The included itinerary and optional trips are all very good and the guides are too. There is enough downtime to enjoy the hotel facilities ie 2 pools, walkways and beach front plus optional spa etc. Just one negative is that while Titan were there a Saga group arrived, on the last two days it appeared that some of the Saga lot turned up on our excursions, this in its self is OK except that we had to endure some idiot in a USA flag headgear that asked lots of pointless questions, made lots of stupid remarks and finished the tour guides sentences for him, this irritating individual was on another tour but appeared to be allowed on our tours, I feel a bit sorry for the Saga tour but why inflict it on a Titan tour, I understand that the two are linked but I book Titan and for good reason and one of them is not to be associated with Saga.
