NOVUM HOTEL THOMAS BUDAPEST - Awful experience
NOVUM HOTEL THOMAS BUDAPEST There's a reason why there are a lot of bad reviews in several sites. We were booked for 3 nights, prepaid the accommodation, but we left after the first night regardless of the fact that there was no guarantee for a refund. That's how horrible it is! Avoid this hotel if you can. BROKEN LIFT - Our room is on the 7th floor and we had to go 7 flights up with our luggage. I asked the staff for any indication as to when the lift will be repaired, but all they could say was "I don't know". I read the other reviews after our stay, and it looks like this has been going on for a while. This is the exact opposite of relaxation while on holiday. I asked for the opportunity to speak to the manager, but since we arrived on a Friday night, I was told that I have to wait until Monday! DIRTY BATHROOM - Filled with dust, sticky floor and there's a lot of discolouration on shower area. No proper shampoo nor soap. Only a generic body wash. The water in the shower does not drain very quickly. You also need to hold the shower with one hand. SMELLY SHEETS - Awful smell and it made my skin itch. I raised this with the staff at the reception and her response was "I do not know. That's with a different department." The other reviews here say that the staff didn't replace their sheets. RUBBISH CUSTOMER SERVICE - Staff were unhelpful, especially the manager, Zoltan Cseri. All they cared about was they already have your money. All the staff could say was "I don't know. You need to wait for my manager." I demanded for a refund since we only stayed 1 out of the 3 nights, but the manager just kept hanging on the "no cancellation" policy which is understandable. However, it shows lack of decency because the customer was completely unsatisfied with the service. Such an awful way to earn money. The manager also claims that the lift has been repaired an hour after we left. However, the reviews here says otherwise. OLD AND UNPLEASANT - The hotel looks vibrant in the photo, but looks very old and unpleasant in actual. The room has old furnishings. The door does not lock automatically when shut. You need to lock it with a key. The curtains/shutters are thin so you get woken up at 5am in summer. We had to spend extra to move to a better hotel, but that's okay because we did not want the rest of our holiday to be ruined.
