Unreachable, Unfriendly and Unefficient.

I've been with Sky for over 9 years, having originally had a Japanese imported sports car insured through them. I've renewed with them each year, rather than look around for cheaper - despite changing to a bolt-standard car a few years back. Earlier this year, I was issued a company lease car. My first instinct was to stay loyal and keep it simple, so I rang Sky to get a quote for the new vehicle, figuring I'd just switch over. After waiting for my call to be taken, I was then transferred to a different department who then ran the quote through the system. The lady that I spoke to was pleasant enough, until "computer said no" and she informed me that, due to the value of the vehicle, they would only insure me if I had a tracker fitted. At this point her tone completely changed and she sounded like she couldn't get me off the line quickly enough - no doubt realising that commission wasn't going to be had with me. I arranged the new insurance through another company, and asked Sky to cancel my current policy. I was advised to call them to discuss the cancellation and, after nearly 10 minutes on hold, emailed them back. I was then told that someone would call. Just two minutes later, I received an email instead, informing me that if I was to cancel the policy, "we would advise that after the deduction of any commission and fee charges, the outstanding balance owed to the finance department is £101.68. Universal Finance will contact you once this policy has been cancelled to settle the shortfall owed". I resisted replying to the effect that this was a rip-off, as I'm sure that the Ts and Cs will cover them, so instead just confirmed my desire to cancel. I then waited for Universal Finance to make contact. Today I have received a threatening letter as follows: "We refer to our previous letter regarding cancellation of your vehicle registration XXXX XXX. You have failed to pay the outstanding balance of £101.68. Unless we receive this within the next seven days, your file will be sent to our legal department for recovery of the debt, via the courts if necessary." Charming, no previous letter has been received and the above is contrary to their previous correspondence. How they can promote themselves as being customer-focussed is beyond me. I run 2 small businesses and my God, if any of my staff treated our customers like this they'd be out of the door the same day. Very, very poor service from a company that I've recommended to many other drivers. *And yes, I know the title should read "inefficient", but I wanted three "uns"!
