Picked up the car at Pisa airport, no problem at the desk, location of car hire from arrivals was around a five minute walk rather than using the shuttle (our choice) we’d hired a mini-car and were issued with a Fiat Panda (Italy) the car was fine, with a few scratches & bumps but fine. We’d taken an insurance out in the uk, so fully protected 👍. No problem at all dropping off the car, only thing that stops a five star was the cleanliness of the interior, a bit of a clean of windows and a good vac out was required, there was lots of sand on the seats in coin/drinks compartments.
