Great tour let down by poor wines!

The organisation of our APT three week land and river cruise tour of Vietnam and Cambodia could not be faulted. Our tour director, Luc, was outstanding. Caring, funny, organised and a downright lovely man, he had a few illnesses and an accident to cope with but he dealt with everything professionally. The places we visited and the extra freedom of choice activities were excellent - lovely hotels too - all 5 star. The Au Co cruise in Halong Bay was good but the food wasn’t. In fact, all the food we had in the hotels nowhere near matched the street food we had on a food tour we organised ourselves in Hanoi. But would we choose APT again? Maybe not, based on their alcohol policy. One (very small) glass of wine or a beer or a soft drink with dinner in the hotels, once only water. Extra glasses were exorbitantly expensive. And the wines served on the Mekong Serenity were truly dreadful. Why serve poor French or Italian wines when you are an Australian company - a country producing some of the best wines in the world. The Mekong Serenity is a brand new boat but the internet was practically nonexistent and the television didn’t work either. A couple of people were ill and had a day in bed with nothing to entertain them. A real shame that we are left with negative memories when there was really no need.
