You read about Bitdefender's scam practices? It's all true ... First time my subcription neared it's end date, they send me an offer for a renewal - that ended up as a second subcription. That got fixed after about a year after - I guess - too many complaints or even lawsuits as the net was full of it at the time. Original subcription got renewed, too, as emails were intentionally confusing (and no, I'm not too stupid, just google it). Left me even more suspicious to any form of subscription. Tried to cancel automatic subscription several times - with no success as the renewal got activated again and again no matter how often I changed it in my account (to get to the account is rather and got more complicated, too, by the way) - the subcription renewed itself, the last time two(!) days after the subcription had officially ended (and I thought I succeeded at last). Service was hostile and unhelpful (or vague) to say it mildly though I had screenshots and documentation. They finally agreed to let me leave after a year. I demanded and got an email confirmation stating that my subcription Nr. xxx would end at a specific date and would not be renewed. It's four years now and I'm still wary that I might get an email about a renewal ... It's sad, according to reviews they are still one of the best, so I wonder why they think it's a good idea to resort to such shady tactics. Never ever again. If you don't plan to stay with Bitdefender until you die - choose another security provider.
