Despicable behaviours of staff
As a customer of this since the opening in 2005 & a highly regular & local customer for the last 6-10 hears. So it sad that I feel I need to leave this review but the experience I hade was a hate crime against my disabilities & should not be ignored. The managers wife at this store mounted a verbal attack at me, was disrespectful of my being disabled and was extremely rude to & about my kids who were trying to help me! She is extremely extremely rude. Her behaviour was totally unacceptable! Her Husband, the store manager admitted her behaviour was unacceptable yet did noting to put it right or get her to set it right herself. I was disgusted by this experience & will avoid this place at all cost as long as possible! Edited in regard to response. This is not true at all I did not shout I told the staff member as I had already told you & another lady that I was exempt on medical grounds to which she said and I quote “if I didn’t have my medical certificate of exemption or go & put a mask on then I had to leave or she was going to call the police on me”. She may have had people be rude & spit at her as you have said and did at the time say but that does not excuse how she behaved toward & spoke to me. Especially when I was not rude at all I just told her I was exempt & explained i had already told you and the other lady that I do not have to carry anything to prove my exemption. Her going onto to say “it’s because of people like you I had covid last week”.... As someone who has been extremely careful, responsible & shielding during covid due to being disabled and having health conditions I do & did find this extremely rude and unacceptable! I was the one wanting an apology but she has stormed off when I came to complain to you, (while I was doing so she was shouting behind my back and being very rude!) so don’t pretend on here to save face that “I didn’t want an apology”! My support worker contacted you in total disgust at the way I had been treated & told you herself the regulations and the fact someone does not have to prove exemption to you!! I was right there when she called you! I only came to the store since to get enough food for my dog to wean her off your own brand dog food which clearly I can’t get elsewhere, as I don’t feel comfortable coming to your store to be harnessed by your wife again! I even had to bring someone with me as I was was so nervous of it happening again As my support worker pointed out to you your wife’s harassment was a disability hate crime! The way you have responded to this is just rude & dishonest. You should be ashamed of your wife that day! You admitted that she was in the wrong for how SHE behaved to wards me... you & your response here just makes you just as bad. You can’t treat a customer that way just because you have had bad experiences in the past & suffer with anxiety. I have severe anxiety & I would never treat anyone as disrespectfully and rudely as she did. A better way to respond to this would have been to apologise like you claim you had wanted to by email, Even that day I came in since, not you, nor your wife who was right there apologised. You just both completely avoided me. You even revered to another member of your staff as “prickly or spiky” on the phone to my support worker. Not good! Bit more back ground for anyone reading this seeing how you have made this much more of a story now but not a full one. I arrived at your store that day at 9am when you were due to open and watched your staff member go into the store. I waited out side for near 30mins & still it didn’t open (supposed to at 9am). The staff member walked past me outside, totally ignored me didn’t tell me anyone was running late nothing. When it eventually opened I came in, I got told I had to leave by said staff member because I had no mask. I explained I was exempt she quizzed me. (no apology for late opening. I then come across you and you say I have to leave unless I have a mask. I explain I already spoke to the First Lady... I’m exempt. Then I come to pay and staff member 3 tells me I have to leave & get a mask I say I exempt. She says if I don’t leave & get a mask she will won’t serve me & will call the police. So I explain I had already spoken to another member of staff & the manager (you) & I’m exempt & I do not have to carry or wear something to prove it (as she is harassing me saying she won’t serve me unless I do) & goes on to say it’s “because of people like me that she got covid last week”. At this point she has crossed a like & I walk away calmly as I was the whole time to come and speak to you (the manager). Upset by her behaviour I try explaining what’s going on & she is behind me talking over me getting very aggressive & abusive having already been very inappropriate! Eventually storming off in a big strop when you told her she was wrong and I was to be served.... you then went to speak to her as I wanted an apology & when you came back you told me she wouldn’t! Appalling!
