Unreasonable Restrictions, Lack of Transparency, and £1,300 Lost
I informed Tandem I wanted to take my car abroad, as required by the contract. Nowhere in the agreement does it state any restrictions, only that you must notify them. They asked for return tickets, full itinerary, guarded parking details, and comprehensive European insurance (which I paid for), plus other documents. I complied with everything, spending hundreds of pounds in the process. After three calls and constant chasing, they finally sent their decision to deny my request just 4 hours before departure, citing only “internal considerations.” No clear policy was shared, even when I asked about future travel rules. Because of their last-minute decision, I lost over £1,300 (tickets, extra insurance, pet passport, pet care, new flight tickets) and had to buy emergency flights for the family to avoid ruining my trip. This experience was stressful, costly, and completely avoidable. No transparency, no accountability. Extremely disappointed.
