Never again
Car itself was ok for the low price but customer service was the worst I've ever experienced with a car rental company in NZ (and I've been with many). Since the company is not located directly in the terminal but a few km offsite, the company offers a shuttle bus to the station - so far so good. We had reserved our car for 12 o'clock (noon). When we called after our bag claim at 12 to arrange the pick up service, the lady just said 'Oh' and that no one would be available right now to pick us up but they would come asap. After 45 mins of waiting in the icy wind outside the terminal, we called again. This time the lady said they would come in 10 mins. After another 20 mins someone finally showed up. When we actually picked up the car, no one wanted to see our passports or international driving licences. Although we had booked with a full/full policy, the car was definitely not full since the gas display was already one bar down after only 20 km or so. When we returned the car and told the owner about the missing gas, he simply said that they are not checking the petrol when cars are returned because they are a small company and measuring devices are expensive. While that may be true, it's still no excuse to cheat on your customers! If you're not checking the fuel, then don't put a full/full policy in your contracts! He even suggested that maybe I had not returned it full either and that he wouldn't be able to check that. He offered me a 5$ compensation for my trouble.
