Refused a refund for a faulty product.

What terrible customer service, firstly from the store manager who did not have the authority to refund a faulty product but also the head office of whom replied within 4 hours with a decision of there is nothing we can do! The issue I had was with a bag of 'Bebeto Gummy Mix' sweets that I have bought many times before but these ones tasted rancid, that opinion was also shared by other family members and friends. This is my thoughts on the matter... How can you trust the produce sold in their stores when they had no interest in whether the product was compromised, they were not in the slightest bit interested in batch numbers which would have been needed in contacting the manufacturer had they feel a need to, of which they did not, they decided it easier to just refuse a refund saying there was nothing they could do, which translate to tough luck as there is nothing you can do. I was a regular shopper there but from now on I will shop elsewhere as all other shops I use do not have such Dickensian rules on customer service and have no quibble satisfaction guarantees.
