Marriott Vacation Club representatives…
Marriott Vacation Club representatives made multiple statements regarding ownership that have proven to be false or misleading. The timeshare was pitched as an investment that would maintain or increase in value. 2,000 points would be sufficient for a week's vacation every year at a fixed price. We could easily use our points at any Marriott Vacation Club properties and the properties were exclusive to members only. All fees for the year were included in the closing costs. The timeshare had resale value and could be sold if needed. Sounds great right; all turned out to be lies. Shortly after our purchase, we received an unexpected bill for approximately $586 in HOA fees, despite being told that all fees for the year were included in our closing costs. When we immediately contacted Marriott Vacation Club to cancel our contract based on this misrepresentation, we were informed that we could not cancel. We made multiple written requests to cancel without seeking any refund, but all were denied. Years later, Marriott finally offered to take back the timeshare only if we paid the loan in full, which remains impossible for us. Seriously, this world is upside down!
