Fantastic Morocco Experience
We are experienced travelers in our 70’s, who, due to a total failure on the part of our normal travel agent, had to arrange a trip to Morocco in just a few weeks. Since we had not previously been to Morocco, we decided we needed to book a private tour. My wife contacted Aubrey Travel to see if they could help us. They said that they had three Morocco specialists and put us in touch with one, Desti Djaferi. We contacted Desti and set up a video call for a few days later. Desti spent over an hour with us on the call to determine what type of travelers we are, what our special interests are and what we were not interested in doing on our tour. Desti was a good listener, made appropriate suggestions based on our input and told us he would prepare an itinerary for our review. Desti was very pleasant and knowledgeable and we felt completely comfortable that he would pull together an itinerary we would enjoy. We received a preliminary detailed itinerary from Desti in just a couple of days. Desti explained that the whole itinerary, including a driver, guides and accommodations were reserved, but due to the short time frame, we would need to “sign off” quickly. We ran the itinerary past friends who had been to Morocco and they said it looked perfect for what we wanted. We agreed and booked the trip. Prior to departing, we had additional conversations with Desti who answered our questions and provided additional information on customs, money, food, etc. Desti’s itinerary did not disappoint! We had a fabulous trip. Our driver Mohamed Benlahsar, “Ben” was like a mother hen, ensuring that everything we needed was taken care of. The local guides, with one exception, were excellent. Everyone was amenable to modifying plans to meet our needs and working to ensure that we had an amazing experience. My wife had developed an allergic reaction prior to departing on our trip, which only got worse over time. While in Fez, she felt she needed medical attention. We told our driver who immediately contacted the local Audley representative in Fez who took us to a clinic where my wife was examined by a female dermatologist. The dermatologist prescribed several medications for my wife and our driver, Ben, and the Audley rep drove us to several pharmacies until we found one that could provide all of the prescribed medications. Their commitment to ensuring that my wife got the help she needed was as if we were members of their family. Very impressive and appreciated. When we returned from our trip, Desti asked that we have a call to debrief. He wanted to know about everything from the guides to the accommodations to the itinerary, both the good and the bad, to find ways to improve the experience for future travelers. We give Desti and Audley five stars for their service, commitment and support.
