Booked a stay at NYX Esperia Palace…
Booked a stay at NYX Esperia Palace athens for 18th May through Expedia. Weeks before I noticed that it still wasn't open. I messaged NYX a few times on their web page, through Expedia website and on their instagram and was told it would be open in time or they just didnt respond near the end, so I contacted Expedia two weeks before and they they told me it would be open in time and that they hadn't heard anything and if not i should just go and when I get there if its not open they would give me a replacement hotel ( I assume they said this in the hope that I wouldn't cancel my booking and when I got there they would give me any rubbish hotel). So I called the hotel in Athens directly and a helpful lady proceed to tell me that she didn't think it would be open in time due to electric works. As you can imagine I was upset as I would now have to find a new hotel 2 weeks before, which was now limited and prices had raised. The lady was helpful with helping me get my full refund back from Expedia but didn't make up for the fact that although I had made previous numerous attempts to contact, that 2 weeks before my flight, which was booked separately I now had to find a new hotel. Luckily o found a beautiful excellent hotel called the InterContinental Athenaeum Athens, an IHG Hotel. Only giving NYX a 2 star because of how helpful the lady was at NYX with helping with the cancellation with Expedia. Expedia were appalling. I see that upto last week the hotel still isn't even open. Terrible behaviour to take money from people and not keep us upto date on it not being open. When I booked it said it would be open weeks before I was due to travel and I didn't get any communication to say that had changed. Disappointing
