Assault on police officer

On the 4th of March of last year I was charged with assault on an emergency worker namely a police officer after I punched him when he had previously been aggressive with me and attempted to hit me again. After this totally avoidable situation created by the officer himself, I instructed Mary Monson Solicitors to help me with my court case. I first met with Jamie only a couple of days after the incident and she immediately understood my case and was very reassuring and understanding from the get go. Throughout the process up to trial I was in regular contact with Jamie on a weekly basis, meeting both on zoom and in office in order to break down the evidence and witness statements against me. Jamie later introduced me to Sara, who was also very supportive and understanding. I Initially was very nervous because of the case and asked if we could end the matter by way of police caution but she insisted that I had a strong case of self defence and I should trust the process . Sara respresented me at my first hearing at Dudley Magistrates Court where she advised me to plead NOT GUILTY and also advised me to take the matter to Crown Court in order to have a fairer trial by jury as magistrates often side with police regardless. Sara later recommended that we work with what I would describe as a top and experienced barrister in Mr Paul Williams from 33 Bedford Row. I was later charged a second time by the CPS for another alleged offence from the same incident but that didn’t deter my defence team in the slightest. During the 10 months before my trial, Jamie hosted several meetings between myself, Paul and Sara where we discussed my case and defence. Communication with them was top notch. During my trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Mr Williams presented my case beautifully and really connected with jury who all admired him for his work of communication as well as his abilities to see and say things the way they are. He also ripped the lying police officer to shreds as well as other witnesses making them admit I wasn’t the aggressor. Jamie was also present at trial and helped my defence by playing the footage at crucial times to pinpoint certain moments of the incident and help guide the judge and jury. On the last day before the verdict, Millie from the Manchester office joined us to provide Mr Williams with assistance. I was eventually found NOT GUILTY on both charges with all 12 members of the jury unanimously agreeing that I was innocent after only 37 minutes of conferring, something which doesn’t happen often. It’s fair to say that working with MMS has been an absolute pleasure as they helped me preserve my good character through their hard work and understanding of the situation in what I would describe as a case of corruption and plotting by the CPS and Police. I will forever be grateful.
