RUN AWAY!
Sheraton/Vistana/Marriott are terrible organizations that have lied to and mistreated me on multiple occasions! The most recent examples are when I was asked to attend an owner presentation and promised it would only be a 1-hour meeting. I was stuck in their high-pressure sales presentation for over 5 hours while multiple employees ratcheted up the pressure to try to convince me to purchase more of their product. They lied about and withheld critical information about the offer to get me to buy. They told me they had a program that allowed me to sell it back to them if I no longer wanted the upgrade. They also told me it would increase the value of the membership allowing me to sell it on the open market. None of this was true. They also hid that the upgrade would significantly increase the annual maintenance fees I was paying to the point of it not being affordable. I fell for it and feel that my long day of work as a hospice nurse the day before made me more susceptible to their coercion. I did not think I had to worry about a company like Sheraton lying to me, I was wrong. In January of this year, I received calls from salespeople named Thomas DeMarco and Jason Moore. They told me I had to upgrade again into Marriott because Sheraton was bought out by them. I was assured I would have access to all the Marriott resorts as well as Disney resorts. After calling in to make reservations I was told that was not true. Marriott is not associated with Disney in any way, and I have VERY limited access to Marriott resorts! In order to not lose my points, I booked a hotel reservation and was told at the hotel I had to attend a meeting with a Marriott rep. It was another timeshare sales presentation, and that sales rep told me a story about refinancing out of the high percentage, compound interest loan I was in to a lower, simple interest rate loan with Marriott and that Marriott would refinance it or buy it back if I decided I did not want it. She assured me I would receive a copy of my contract via FedEx in a few days. When I did not, I called in to inquire re. the details of that contract only to find that she lied to me too. Same interest rate, same calculation, no refinance option, and they would not buy it back! How does a company like Marriott allow this? I have reached out to resolve this and no one has even had the courtesy to respond to my requests to be released from these memberships.
