Hospiten PUNTA CANA FRAUD

Beware of this company. Report them for fraud and report to the health and tourism ministry. We reported them for extortion They are a fraud!!!! My husband and I travelled on 12/3. He had an issue with a hernia when we arrived and we saw the HOSPITEN doctor in the resort. We have experiences with hernia in the past and fever being absent we know we had a few hours to get back to the US which we told them we wanted to do. We begged them to just give us pain killers so we could fly back because we didn't feel safe or comfortable being treated in the DR. THEY SAID NO. They sent us to a second location for imaging. The HOSPITEN staff at the second location was rude, borderline abusive. They denied us imaging even with us offering to pay cash. We paid for some medicine and they quoted us 26 k for a surgery because “your husband is dying”. The surgeon told us the surgery was necessary, this was all a lie. She had no way to knowing without imaging. She refused to do the imaging even though I begged her and offered a credit card to not avail. I told them absolutely no to the surgery, when they figured no money was cometh she gave us some pain killers and we were able to fly back, but not without she telling me I was going to jail if my husband died. She was also adamant he wasn’t going to be able to fly. I booked an emergency flight and made it to the airport around 10 am on 12/4, United Airlines gave us a wheelchair and I was able to manage his pain with the 9 pills they gave us and Aleve. They charged us almost $1000 dollars for 9 pain pills. The people in the airport were nothing but angels that were sent from heaven. He slept thru the flight (no fever thanks God). We got to the EMERGENCY ROOM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND HOSPITAL and a Walter Reed Hospital surgeon (same hospital that treats the president of the United States) examined my husband. Not only the cat scan showed he never was at risk of dying , his hernia was treated without surgery. They ran his blood work, no infection, nothing. Yes a hernia is urgent but Punta Cana is a couple of hours away from Florida. All we needed was palliative care to get him to the us. All we got was threats and lies. And on top of that she basically kidnapped us with threats of legal action and it was all a lie. That is crazy. The surgeon named Niziel Azul Espinal de Rodriguez and the resort doctor Carlos Jose del Rosario exaggerated my husband condition to charge us more, denied us the care we requested, denied us medical agency. We are not animals, we have the right to decide what happens to our bodies. The doctors with Hospiten lie, lie and lie. Americans are only cash cows to them. They don’t care about the guests health or care. They treated us like cattle, like we did not have agency and not we weren’t humans and we are still allowed to choose our care. I am quite sure humans rights are universal and even though we aren't in out country we still have them. We feel the need to warn Americans not to go to this resort if hospiten is on site abusing and lying to your customers. It is a shame, the staff at the resort are lovely and the beach is beautiful. But we are not animals. We are also planning on placing a complain with any pertinent medical authority in the United States and the Dominican Republic. But most importantly we need to warn the public via social media not to go there. Because we don't want people to be hurt or god forbids die because of hospiten fraud. I spoke today to the tourism police and they confirmed this is a fraud and encouraged us to file a criminal complaint which we Will do Monday. I also email this to the ceo of Barcelo group.
