Our Solomon experience
Our Solomon journey began in the spring of my daughter’s freshman year. We were introduced to our counselor, Jina, who was very welcoming, kind and encouraging. In the early stages, Jina encouraged my daughter to explore different areas of interest. She provided links with information on different subject areas, reading materials, pre-college programs and summer opportunities. She encouraged my daughter to join clubs. She was determined to dig deep to find out what made my daughter tick. Over time, Jina understood my daughter, her personality and her passion. Together they made a strategic plan that was curated uniquely for my daughter. Over the years, staying true to the plan, Jina has made recommendations for high school course selections, books and research to read, online courses, and research and internship opportunities, just to name a few. When it came to writing the college essay, Jina asked probing questions to get our daughter to think. The support here is invaluable. Whenever I had a question about anything, I would shoot Jina an email and she would respond timely and with the most well researched answers. She was our own personal counselor and we were very appreciative of her thoughtful responses. Jina was very direct with what needed to get done in the time frame we had. Just to be clear, Jina provides the guidance but your teen will do the work. It has been a very positive growth experience for our daughter. I would recommend just for that alone. Jina is very experienced, kind and encouraging. The teacher in her shines through, that’s for sure. We have known Jina for 3 years now and I feel the guidance my daughter has received from Jina and Solomon will go with her to college and beyond. We are grateful for this experience.
