Lost Domain Name & Charged for it !
A couple of years ago I set up a website for a non-technical friend using a Domain Name and Hosting service provided by Just Host. Both domain name and hosing service were on a direct debit contract. During November 2018 my friend called me to tell me that his domain name / site was a dress shop. I contacted Just Host after a month and some investigation by me admitted that they had lost the domain name see message below: "Thank you for reaching out to our Domain Administration Team. Unfortunately, your domain greatgums.co.uk failed to renew due to a technical glitch. We apologize for the inconvenience. Our Domain Administration Team is trying to recover the domain from the new registrant, however, please understand that process can take some time. We will provide you with updates as we attempt to contact the new registrant, but we cannot guarantee the recovery of the domain. As a gesture of goodwill, we can register a similar domain such as greatgumsperiodontics.co.uk at no cost to you now, and offer 12 months of complimentary hosting. Again, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience. Joseph Domains Specialist Justhost.com " Since this message there was a commitment to provide a free years hosting and domain name but not to edit the website, compensate for the production of new stationary or to signage that carried the GreatGums URL. Clarification was asked for and December 2018 was the last time Just Host was heard from, with the exception of an attempt to draw down on the direct debit hosting fees for a site that cant be viewed ! I am now registering a new DomainName and uploading my site to a new HOST which will be just as far as possible from Just Host and any EIG company !
