Scammy, misleading, and a total waste of time

Indeed lures people in with the promise of “free job postings.” What they don’t tell you is that those postings are essentially useless unless you pay them. When I tried to post a licensed position, they refused to list it unless I “sponsored” the post — meaning paid money. Out of curiosity, I created another listing for the same role without checking the licensing box, and I’m still left wondering if they’ll invent another reason to squeeze money out of me. To make matters worse, they forced me into a “3-day free trial” that I explicitly declined, and then acted like I should’ve expected to pay anyway. Their entire system is designed to funnel you into paying for sponsorships or subscriptions. They even admit that “sponsored posts” get seen by more people — but if everyone is forced into sponsoring, then how exactly does that make anyone’s posting more visible? It’s a rigged pay-to-play scheme. Even trying to delete my account was a nightmare. Instead of a simple “deactivate” button, they told me I’d have to call another department that’s only open Monday through Friday. Why is there no straightforward way to cancel online? That’s not just inconvenient — it feels deliberately predatory. After experiencing this firsthand, I can confidently say Indeed is running a scam disguised as a job board. They exploit both job seekers and employers with a system built on deceptive practices and aggressive upselling. I’ll be warning everyone I know to stay far away from this platform.
