I was excited that Porter was flying out of YYZ to YYC as I was a fan of the airline given my positive experiences flying with them years back. The inaugural flight to YYC was great; friendly professional crew, lots of nice perks like free food and a voucher for future travel. The CEO was on the flight and I mouthed the word "impressed" as I walked-by as he set-up for his press conference. I extolled them to friends and family...until this morning. When checking-in to my return flight, I took note of how the plane appeared almost empty (almost every seat was up for grabs, for a price). I woke-up this morning receiving an email that my flight this afternoon had been cancelled due to a lack of crew. I'm now scheduled for a flight tomorrow on a near full flight and can't help but suspect the lack of passengers and this cancellation are cause/effect. The cancellation is classified as "controllable", as-in, this was Porter's decision. Obviously this has torpedoed my opinion of the airline and I'd mouth something else to the CEO in passing next time...
