JD Sports
JD Sports – Broughton Retail Park, Chester Had a very disappointing visit today, 2nd July. From the moment I walked in, the store felt chaotic — loud, stressful instructions were being broadcast over the staff intercoms, creating a tense atmosphere all around. Staff looked overwhelmed and exhausted, and I genuinely felt sorry for them. It was also a case of not what was being said, but ‘how’ it was being said. Thankfully, a wonderful team member named Marcus was fantastic — polite, professional, and really helpful. He even recommended a pair of Ugg Taz I hadn’t come in for and I bought them. He stood out for all the right reasons and made a real difference to my visit. Thank you Marcus. Unfortunately, when I was returning an unopened multipack of sports socks, I was told I wasn’t allowed — despite no signs or mention on the receipt. After questioning this, they did refund me in the end, and the lady at the till was kind, despite the pressure she was clearly under. Overall, most of the staff looked ready to walk out. The store seemed to be undergoing some changes, but the scale of work being done, particularly during open hours — on a warm sunny day, with no air con — really wasn’t ideal for customers. I left feeling pretty drained and genuinely concerned for the team, particularly the manageress who sounded stressed and overwhelmed. JD Sports needs to look at how this store and the staff is being supported. The entire experience put a dampener on the rest of my retail afternoon, and I wish I’d had the opportunity phone head office and report my concerns immediately, so someone could intervene.
