Bought this tent for several weddings…
Bought this tent for several weddings this year to use in a glamping style. On the tents first outing in moderate wind, in the same campsite of several other tents including an identical tent a friend had (hence recommendation and purchase) . Put the tent up with guide ropes and pegs as usual. Came out after the wedding to sleep and the tent had failed. We had to sleep in the car as a result and go home early. We complained to Charlie’s who responded fast and they liaised with Colman on our behalf. They said it’s was not a fault and would not replace or refund. Apparently weather isn’t covered … this is very odd !! Disappointed to say the least. I wouldn’t buy this tent or purchase from here again - very poor. I should’ve gone to decathlon. The thing here is there was clearly a fault with the tent as my friend has the same tent, pitched at the same time in the same field, however neither Coleman or Charlie’s would honour stating there was no fault and its was due to weather. There was a little wind but all the other tents including the identical version ( Coleman polygon 6) were fine. After being told by Charlie’s that nothing could be done I posted this review, Charlie’s quickly got in touch and said they would go back to Coleman’s and try again. Personally I thought this was poor as they should have gone the extra mile on my behalf initially. I have since been told again from Charlie’s that neither they or Coleman will do anything… they clearly don’t believe me which is sad. I have now purchased a great tent at a fraction of the Charlie’s price point . Really wish I’d just gone to decathlon sooner. Whilst I appreciate Charlie’s trying to help, by communicating directly with Coleman, and being polite (no issue with the direct customer service patter) they have not attempted to take any ownership of the situation or resolve this for me as a customer. Instead I have a broken tent, and I’m out of pocket. I think this is a real shame, as this doesn’t make me feel valued and really encourages me to go to a larger chain like decathlon in future…. The tent I was faulty and broke under very minor wind conditions in the peak… very poor!! To update - the tent I purchased from decathlon is just as big, with a better more flexible pole system which I used in Dorset this weekend. Tent was easy to put up and cost less than £100 . There was quite a bit of wind (more than at the wedding where the Coleman broke previously) and the new decathlon tent did really well .. didn’t break really pleased, I can use for years to come. HUGE thanks to decathlon … Charlie’s and Coleman however …very disappointed. Won’t shop at Charlie’s again.
