Merchant-first dispatch cost me some orders but I respect the logic
Took me a minute to understand why certain restaurant pings weren't coming to me, then I read about merchant-first dispatch — if a store has its own courier staff, they get priority. Honestly, fair. Still, on a Friday night I ran six Ryde Eats orders and four same-day courier packages, kept every cent of the delivery fees, and the live tracking worked without a single customer complaint. The descending commission structure on the ride side also means the more I drive, the smaller the platform's cut gets, which is the opposite of what I'm used to. Two-code handoff at pickup and drop adds maybe 20 seconds per job but it's worth it for the accountability.
