An absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. Original quote made over the phone went to a different branch than requested, so tried to book online but the website kept changing the selected branch without warning, so rang up again and spoke to someone who was seemingly annoyed that I’d done so. Tried to pay for the quote online but it wouldn’t accept my card, I tried ringing the two numbers listed for the branch - one redirects your call to the head office who are no help at all, the other does call the branch, but it is never picked up and messages are never returned. So I had to go to the depot in person to pay ahead of the booked hire. When collecting, I was given faulty equipment, which necessitated a further two trips to resolve and replace, and two lost days and earnings. I got charged for the extra days hire despite it being the fault of HSS, and I am still awaiting a refund for returned consumables 3 weeks later. Have chased several times, can’t get through to the branch, head office redirects you to a department that never answers, or promises a call back that never comes. Throughout this whole process, everyone I have spoken to in person at my local branch insists they don’t have the authority to do anything in almost all circumstances. An utterly useless company, avoid at all costs.
