A great product that suffers from lackluster support
Disclaimer: I was offered a refund on my first year's service if I left this review. I have signed up for the 10 TB plan. I back up a Windows 11 desktop PC, an M1 Macbook Air, and am planning on backing up my linux powered Plex server and router. Back up speeds seemed just fine on my mac and desktop. The client program itself is pretty easy to use too I did have an issue backing up my PC and laptop at first. The error messages given by the program leave much to be desired (actually non-existent), and you're pretty much required to contact support. Support is the Achilles heel at this point. I exchanged messages with support over a period of three days. They have a habit of only responding way after business hours (Eastern Time, North America) and their responses were obviously coming off a script and contained many grammar errors. I discovered the issue on both computers was the baked-in Windows and Mac OS firewall. The Public firewall profile in Windows will prevent the service running. The Mac OS firewall acted similarly. Once I fixed these issues, the backups went smoothly and quickly. Unfortunately, since dealing with support is how I've used this service the most since I started use a couple weeks ago. My rating takes a hit on that and the fact the clients don't give useful error messages. Even a prompt of "Could not reach iDrive's backup servers!" could have helped my rating.
