Great start to the trip
Initially we tried to hire a car at East Coast car hire, right next door as that was where our in laws had prebooked a car. Immediately clear that there was a high volume of people waiting for their booking also. We stood in line for 40 minutes and finally reached the counter. Much to our disappointment we were informed that we were not able to get a vehicle as we had not prebooked. Feeling frustrated for standing in line all that time with no result was disappointing. So we went next door. Immediately greeted by a lovely lady who offered her assistance. We explained we had just been next door to no avail. Well not only did we receive a vehicle to rent which was cheaper than next door, we received a warm welcome to Cairns and some local info on things to see and do. The Hyundai Accent Sport was a dream to drive on those crazy winding roads, and surprisingly spacious with two kids in the back. I reside in Perth WA and have not received customer service like that in a long time. It was truly refreshing and was a great start to the trip.
