Very disappointed.
Huws Gray (Ridgeons) has always been my go to builders merchants due to product quality, customer experience and what I thought was reasonable value for money. I've spent in the region of £7000 with them over the past 3-4 years including two sewage treatment plants. A compressor pump failed on one plant and due to ease of tracing a replacement and trust in the Huws Gray I ordered a replacement via them. Then due purely to interest in the slight variation with the replacement compared to the original I google the model numbers. It turned out that the compressor was readily available online either from the manufacturer or other companies for £150 + VAT. Huws Gray were £331 + VAT!! I would have expected and been more than happy with approx 33% (£50) uplift in price due them sourcing and delivering but a 120% is a joke. Confronted the Diss Branch, Norfolk about the excessive price to be met with "yes, that's what it is, special order" What's even more frustrating is that if they knew their products they sold or if not, approached their suppliers about malfunctions after sales then they could have told me a service kit for 30 quid would have fixed it. Never rely on loyalty and trust when dealing with them and do your own research. I've a substantial extension to do in the new year and certainly will not be giving them any more of my hard earned cash.
