RIGHTIO

Thieves, basically.
We moved into our house and the first day, the boiler's not working. Unfortunately for us, Rightio is the first company that answers when I ring. A bloke came out the same day and we got charged over £500 for his labour and a part. The part doesn't show up for a week or more (there was no time frame on this and I had to ring for an update in which they told me it'll come when it comes), the bloke comes and installs it. He says its all good and leaves. The hot water is only intermittent (it felt hot for a little but would go cold quickly) and the heating still didn't work. So I ring back, he comes back out roughly another week later. This time he says the boiler will need more and more work, its too old. As part of the guarantee on the job, Rightio offers me a discounted boiler of four grand. I found the same boiler and installation for half the price elsewhere and Rightio refused to give me a refund, despite the job they charged me for not working. I'm told I can't get a refund because they needed to do the 500 quid job to find out I'd need the 4 grand job. Sounds like a good way to bleed money out of people! The engineer who came was a really nice bloke who did try very hard for us and did speak on our behalf to Rightio, but I'd say beyond that they're a very expensive company (if I hadn't been desperate and done more research I'd have found plenty of companies cheaper and better; more fool me of course) and when I was trying to talk about a refund I got moved to department to department for ages, they kept sending me back to someone trying to sell me on the four grand boiler instead of discussing the refund, and then told me the refund process would be 10 working days, this distended into 21 days just to review it and not get the decision. It seems like a company constantly trying to upsell and already charging alot and obfuscating any path to resolution. I'd avoid them, there'll be someone cheaper and better out there.
