Get to know your anaesthetist, not just the surgeon
If undergoing surgery or anything that requires pain management, please ask lots of questions about your anaesthetist! Whilst I had excellent care from the surgeon and nursing team, the anaesthetist was hasty, clumsy and unprofessional and left me with damaged vocal cords and pain when swallowing. Interestingly, my wounds from surgery are healing very well in comparison as I was lucky enough to have a great surgeon.
