I recently applied for a rental…
I recently applied for a rental property through Rightmove and had a highly disappointing experience. Despite my stable and substantial base salary, my application was rejected due to the financial status of the company I work for—a factor that has no bearing on my personal income or ability to pay rent. The application process was frustrating, with irrelevant criteria being used to assess my suitability as a tenant. Additionally, the company's verification methods were inadequate. They attempted to verify my income through means that were not relevant to my situation, such as checking the net asset worth of my employer and failing to recognize the legitimacy of my income documentation. Their refusal to proceed with my application was based on these flawed checks. To make matters worse, despite this unfair decision, there has been no proactive communication regarding the refund of my holding deposit. This experience has left me feeling dissatisfied and undervalued as a potential tenant. I hope Rightmove reviews their application process and criteria to avoid similar issues for other applicants in the future. Clearer guidelines and more relevant assessment methods would improve the overall experience.
