Other providers are available.....

I have done a few of these experience days now, so I have an idea what to expect but was left a bit disappointed at this weekends event.... The usual incessant push to buy damage waiver insurance, which I personally declined for a number of reasons (not allowed to go fast enough to need it being one). when you decline the insurance they ask you to write down your card details on a piece of paper which is fair enough, although now after a successful day of not damaging the cars I have no idea what's happened with my bank details. The ariel atom was the biggest disappointment of the weekend. In the atom the instructor is always in charge of the gears..... this is something that is not made clear throughout the booking process or on the "cars" page, I could only find it in small writing in the FAQ section. now while I understand the reason why they operate the atom in this way.... it absolutely kills the drive & leaves you feeling like you do not have control of the car. you were told to brake a million miles away from where you actually need to brake & always told to brake harder.... I was told off for going through a chicane at a conservative 45mph. I would of booked another car if I had known prior. In the other cars you can control the gears, you are always told when to change gear though & most of the time they tell you the wrong gear to tailor the amount of acceleration you can actually feel when you put your foot down.... now to most people they probably wouldn't notice but if you drive a fast car as a daily you will be underwhelmed with the acceleration from the supercars they put you in. The best bit about car chase heroes is the selection of cars they offer, I was really happy to see & drive the R32 GTR & the instructor was knowledgeable and the best one I had on the day by far. The car was super cool but again being told what gear to put the car in when the car has a big single turbo you spent most of the time waiting for the turbo to spool up and accelerate & by the time it did you were told to brake.... the rev limiter is also set to a disappointing 5k... still the coolest car of the day though. I am by no means the most experienced driver but for someone with some track experience & having gone round the worlds most infamous toll road numerous times I was kept well below my skill level at all times & never given the freedom to even slightly stretch the legs of the car. unfortunately my experience echoes others I spoke to as well, those that had paid for the damage waiver were also kept within the same boundaries. others stated they drove 3 hours to drive a car that was said to be available when they called in the morning, wasn't even transported to the event.
