Paid £230 for a Premium Scuf — R2 Trigger Failed After 18 Months
I bought the Scuf Reflex FPS for £230, trusting the reputation of the brand and expecting a long-lasting, high-performance controller. After just 18 months of normal use, the R2 clicky trigger stopped working completely. It’s not just the clicking mechanism — the button doesn’t work at all now, so the controller is completely unusable. No drops, no damage — it just failed. I reached out to Scuf and dealt with someone named Herman. First, he offered me their £99 out-of-warranty replacement option for a brand-new controller. When I explained that I simply expected a working replacement — since I’d already paid for a working product — he then offered me a 50% discount code to buy a new one… which would’ve cost me more than the £99 replacement they’d just offered (slightly insulting). To make things worse, I was then warned by Herman that if I went through my bank for a chargeback, they’d revoke even the £99 offer — which felt more like a threat than support, especially when all I’ve asked for is the product I paid for. That left me feeling really uncomfortable and frankly quite unsettled. I’ve looked after the controller and been more than reasonable — but I’ve been left with a completely unusable product and no real support. Extremely disappointed. Scuf, you’re welcome to review this case — all the details I’ve shared are 100% accurate. Order: #S43191694. [Update after Scuf’s reply:] Thanks for the response, but it doesn’t change the key issue: I bought a £230 premium controller that stopped working after just 18 months of normal use. That’s not a warranty issue — that’s a quality issue. I fully accept it was outside of warranty, but you’re missing the point. I didn’t demand anything — I asked for goodwill support because I’ve looked after the controller and expected it to last more than a year and a half. I said I’d leave a review, contact Corsair, or go through PayPal if you couldn’t help — not to cause trouble, but because those were the only real options I had left as a paying customer. And let’s be real: • The clicky trigger isn’t just “worn” — it’s completely failed. • The discount code you offered was more expensive than your £99 RMA — which makes no sense. • Then I was told that if I pursued a dispute, even that would be taken away. That’s not support — that’s pressure. If your premium controllers can’t last beyond 18 months, then customers deserve to know. If your goodwill policy only applies when people stay quiet and polite, then that says a lot. Still disappointed — not because I’m out of warranty, but because I’m out of luck after spending over £200 with your brand.
