Marrriott Does Not Take Care of Their Owners
Marrriott failed owners! We were booked into Maui Ocean Club 26 Aug until 2 Sep 2023. The fires in Maui destroyed the west side of the island, and we had to cancel the trip since no visitors were allowed to enter the island due to the declared State of Emergency. Marriott did nothing for us. They put my points which I had saved up for this "once in lifetime" visit in a holding account which has to be used by 31 Dec 2023. Why wouldn't they just move the points to 2024 or at least out 6 months so we can find another opening in our schedule and find a vacation spot to go to. Other hotels and even airlines returned full refunds or extensions. They didn't just give a Marriott lecture on "you should have bought insurance." And if they have opened up the timeshares as requested by the Governor to house residents affected by the fire then the payments they are receiving from the government is indeed "double-dipping"; shame on them.
