Attention Scam!
Attention Scam! Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the company Lava Rent. In principle, the cooperation with Lava Rent started well. The pick-up by shuttle from the airport was excellent and the driver was friendly. However, this was the only positive point. I booked a Toyota Land Cruiser in the most expensive class specifically for the Icelandic highlands. On the homepage of Lava rent it says "a Toyota Land Cruiser or equivalent replacement" is offered. When I picked up the car, I was told that there was no Toyota Land Cruiser but only a Kia Serento. The employee on site did not understand that I specifically needed the Land Cruiser for the highlands due to the high fording depth and ground clearance. She simply said that the Kia Serento is equivalent according to the company's philosophy. Which in fact is not the case. The ground clearance and fording depth were almost the same as in a Toyota Rav4 car. The only difference was that the rav4 could be rented for half the price per day. In comparable car companies (Sixt, europcar and lotus) this decision was met with incomprehension. The same goes for me. Hardly any other car rental company puts a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Kia serento on an equal footing. -> If the goal is to rent a cheap car in Iceland, Lava Rent is, apart from the very unfriendly staff and slow customer service (answer by mail took a very long time), the best choice.
