A lost and magically found car!!!
Upon arrival at the office in Alicante I was told by the desk agent that there was no car available for me. He stated that all cars were being used and that I needed to phone the telephone number on my booking and ask the person to refund my money so I could go elsewhere for a car. I asked why this had happened and was told that the company was overbooked. I stated that I would not be phoning the company to ask for a refund (as this would cost me money in phone bills), and asked the agent to allow me to use one of the phones there. He refused to do this. I refused to make the phone call and was told that it was my only option. I stated that as this ‘over-selling’ was not my error that they should help me with the phone call. I then asked to speak to a manager to discuss options and also compensation for my troubles. At this point the desk agent asked to wait. He then spent a time on the system and then (as if by magic) found me the exact car which I had rented. I am concerned as to why this happened and why the agent was convinced there was no car, then suddenly (when I complained and asked to speak with a manager) one was found. The situation made me feel targeted and I would appreciate a response on this matter. The car itself was in good working order and drop off was fine. Insurance was an issue as the choice handed to me was 1400 (Euro) deposit or 189 (Euro) all inclusive - this even though I had bought the premium insure when booking through a 3rd party provider. Whole experience with the company has left me with little trust.
