The worst referencing experience to date
In December, I had a "pleasure" of dealing with RightMove referencing agents which was an outsourced job by Abatoria letting agency. To give some context, I've been contacted to provide with three payslips, proof of money hitting the account (bank statement) which I did. I also provided my initial employment contract (dating to 2016) and all addendums to it as I've been promoted several times to this date. I have successfully provided my manager's verbal reference of employment and offered the HR reference should it be needed. RightMove reference agents didn't accept the documentation since they didn't like that in the initial contract had an OTE amount approximately 4 times smaller than I've put in my application, even though I did provide a signed addendum by both my HR colleagues and the SVP of sales of the company. It was clearly stated that the salary is the only factor which did change with all the rest remaining the same in the addendum, however it didn't bother RightMove reps. My HR colleagues have advised that they'd happily confirm the terms in written, however, again, this was refused as the company needed a full contract stating all changes there. The fact that my salary amount combined in three payslips (backing the promotion) showed nearly 20% higher amount than my OTE from 2016, again, didn't bother RightMove agents. They've essentially called a few times per day for weeks and tried forcing me to admit that I refused to provide an appropriate contract and that my OTE salary statement is false. This was the worst experience I've ever had dealing with the agency, to the point that Abatoria agents had to get involved in a fight for this too and it was utterly unpleasant. I ended up calling Abatoria to explain that this was totally out of hand and offered to provide the same documentation I've provided to RightMove to Abatoria. Of course this was more than sufficient to them and we ended up striking a deal with both sides being happy. All in all, I will be spreading the word about this experience to as many people as possible to avoid RightMove at all costs as this experience couldn't have been any worse, causing immense stress and having me on a verge of withdrawing from the application just by the fact how awful the agents of RightMove conducted themselves. The fact that we had to pay for this checks is beyond me, I feel like I should have been paid instead for this horrendous situation which I will never put myself again with RightMove.
