Scammy Cancelation/Renewal System

Paid CAD 699 for a year, as a present to my girlfriend. Canceled my auto-renewal immediately, even emailing the company to make sure there wouldn't be unforeseen problems related to that (undelivered packages, for instance). I was told all would be well, but a year later, I was auto-renewed anyway, and told I never canceled. They refused to refund me, and I literally don't have the money to pay for it this year. They've only sent out one package so far for the new cycle, which I told them I would pay for, but they still won't cancel the future deliveries or refund me. I keep emailing them back about it, and I get mostly scripted answers saying it's just not possible. Worst customer service ever. For what seemed like a decent—albeit expensive—little service, it sure seems shady and kinda scam-like now. I've noticed many similar complaints online since this happened to me. I wonder if I'll see a video on them one day, like with Established Titles: a total scam company that everyone on YouTube endorsed until it got called out for their shady business practices, and promptly died. EDIT: After 13 days of back-and-forths with a customer service rep, I eventually got a refund. While I'm satisfied now, I honestly didn't think I would be. I can see how others in my shoes may have just given up. Take this as both a word of warning and credit where credit is due.
