Disingenuous T&C's; anything to save them £25
I was waiting for my contract with another provider to end so that I could join Zen, and in the meantime I'd referred a few friends to them but after a while I realised none of my referrals had been rewarded yet, even though I'd been emailed long ago thanking me for referring each friend. When I queried the timeframe with Zen they eventually told me, despite advising that 'Anyone can sign up', that only current customers of Zen are eligible to refer friends to their network. This isn't stated anywhere on the referral page, nor in their whole T&C's - they appear to just be relying on the catch-all condition that they can essentially do what they want, when they want... (The absolute last condition in the long page) All this despite inferring otherwise on their site, and even inviting anyone to refer friends, this has totally put me off joining Zen and has felt extremely deceitful all over a £25 Gift Card(?!) - if this was the case you'd think they'd explain this somewhere, or at least not infer otherwise constantly. Zen are partnered with the CityFibre network, if you're planning on joining Zen reassess whether it's worth the risk and look at the other ISP's through CityFibre and find one that isn't willing to take advantage of you to save £25, because if they can't commit to their promises, why should you commit to them on an eighteen month binding contract? You can be sure they won't let you off for any amount. (Worth noting that various providers on the CityFibre network have, and don't have referral programmes, but they're all very clear on how theirs work and what the conditions are, I couldn't find any that were as misleading as Zen)
