Turkey Encompassed Trip
We would strongly recommend Intrepid Travel, especially as it offered different levels of comfort for our travel route. There was no way we could have accomplished all that we did if we were on our own for the fortnight. The format of the Turkey Encompassed tour was great: initial background information given verbally by the guide in the van while travelling to destination and detailed info once there – most days we each had time to explore on our own – flexibility of guide to adapt the daily itinerary to suit group’s interests. We appreciated Intrepid’s philosophy of supporting local enterprises, such as potters and weavers, rather than commercial Tourist Shops etc. This enabled the group to visit places and participate in activities which would have been difficult/impossible to organize as an individual. As Kiwis we particularly appreciated that the group decided to have a common tipping kitty operated by our Guide. We suggest that extra days in Istanbul are allowed by the traveller before the trip for orientation and locating the meeting hotel without having to trudge about with one’s luggage. Also Istanbul deserves more than just a few days sightseeing. Mete’s friendliness and knowledge added greatly to the success of the trip. Our heartfelt thanks to him & our driver for making it so memorable.
