LEBARA GOOD: VODAFONE BAD

We were with EE for years. All of a sudden, EE says it is going to double our monthly charge. Not having that! After a bit of research on Trustpilot and Moneysavingexpert, we decided to change to Lebara, which actually had a better deal than our original EE deal, plus they offer roaming in Europe without extra charge, unlike EE. We duly signed up and the SIM cards (2) arrived within 24 hours. We had already got the PAC code from EE so we decided to change over one phone first to make sure all was well. That was when the problems started. Having inserted the new SIM card, we were informed that a code was being sent by text so that we could proceed. Serious flaw: the code was only valid for 60 seconds and we struggled to find any Vodafone reception (Lebara uses the Vodafone network). We had to keep requesting new codes until eventually we found, by leaning out of our bedroom window upstairs, just enough signal to secure a code and enter it within the 60 seconds, but it took two of us with two separate devices and a window open to the rain to achieve this feat. It then took several attempts and the best part of 48 hours to port the original phone number and to set up wifi calling. Now to the second phone. We knew what to do but, having carried out what is a complicated business for oldies like us, wifi calling disappeared. As we have no mobile signal at home, we couldn`t call Lebara, of course, so had to resort to online chat which, admittedly, was quick and efficient. It took 4 days to recover the old number and nearly 6 days for wifi calling to reappear, during which time we could neither make nor receive any calls because, repeat, we have no signal and had no wifi calling. That was NOT good, hence the lower number of stars. Maybe Lebara could lean heavily on Vodafone for better network coverage?
