ParcelABC accepted insurance value that UPS couldn't honour.
Problem was that ParcelABC representative did not understand the UPS system sufficient to really help in a paperwork error arising in the ParcelABC to UPS handover. Result was a 3 week delay in delivery (1 in Santiago and 2 in UK) plus an enormous exchange of well meaning but ineffective emails. Everyone was prompt and courteous but seemed to be working in the dark. Initial error was that ParcelABC accepted insurance on 5,000 pounds value of goods that UPS subsequently could not honor. Over the phone corrections (1 week) unfortunately left paperwork errors that UK Customs picked up, causing the 2 week delay in the UK. UPS would not answer emails during this period and the ParcelABC representative simply referred us to the UPS support site, which doesn't work too well. UPS did in the end respond, and cleared the parcel almost immediately, without charging us for storage. The problem really lies with UPS, who seem understaffed at present.
