Iraq is beautiful.
Iraq is a beautiful country. I have called this country home previously and had coverage through IMG (this was just two years ago). When I spoke with a rep from IMG I was told multiple times that Iraq was not covered. I recongize that U.S. citizens have certain perspectives of Iraq that have been indoctrined into us to fuel the war machine that is our country, but I can share a few things that you may not recognize: Iraq is gorgeous. In spring the northern hills are like the middle eastern Ireland with shepherds grazing and elderly women harvesting foraged greens that are then sold in the local bazaar. Iraq is safe. I could leave my computer in an unlocked car overnight and live as a single woman without fear for my safety (tell me how many cities in the U.S. you can do this). Iraq is culturally rich. Religions, languages, and food are unique to each region. Iraq is ecologically essential to global environmental patterns. From the marshes of the south that are fed by the Tigris and Euphrates to the snow capped mountains of the northwest. Iraqis, and Syrians and Palestinians who are also numerous throughout Iraqi, are the most generous and hospitable people I have met in the over 30 country I have been blessed to visit/live. P.S. The representative took another look after I asked to speak to a higher manager, and discovered that Iraq is covered for health insurance. Don't let the media fool you. The Middle East is beautiful; why else do you think our government fights for its land so much?
