Being charged for name correction on my ticket
I booked a return flight from London to Colombo with Sri Lankan Airlines with Travel House yesterday. When I received my e-ticket I noticed that the last part of my surname was missing (I have a long surname made up of three words). I contacted Travel House immediately and asked them to correct my name on the ticket as I don’t want to have any problems checking in. I was then informed that this was possible as long as I paid £150 for this service (I’m pretty certain that I entered my name correctly when I booked my ticket online. I even went back online to check that I could enter my full name and had no problem doing so). I know that Sri Lankan Airlines don’t do name changes, but let you cancel and rebook your ticket free of charge within 24 hours of buying it, but I guess this could be different when booking through an agent. Needless to say I was not happy with this and requested a refund. Again, I was told this was possible as long as I paid £100. As much as I did not want to pay I decided to go for a refund as I have no confidence in an agent with such poor customer service. And another thing: any other travel agent I ever dealt with send a confirmation and ask me to check the details before issuing the ticket and this wasn’t done.
