absolute disaster
Ordered a large pizza meal for a dozen people - received emails to indicate all was well. 75minutes later chased the actual restaurant and they claim no order was received. They fulfilled the order (charged me extra as takeaway.com undercharged apparently) but it was so late by the time the food arrived most of my guests were leaving. The next day after complaint I received an email saying payment didn't process correctly and I would be refunded in the next 10 business days...the restaurant are chasing me direct for payment which is fine once I am reassured the takeaway.com refund is in place. Takeaway.com are "sorry for the situation" but frankly have done little to make good or compensate for the error - the underlying tone being one of not really their fault. The laugh of it all was that I was asked to review the meal that very evening when no order was ever passed on - you can imagine my response. It is frustrating for these generic .com sites who seem to raise so much money in great fanfare only to ultimately let down both the consumers and the underlying restaurants. I will be going back to the old ways and dealing direct with the actual food providers. Really fed up with the hassle - spent half an hour trying to establish whether payment taken through card company - they apparently claimed to the restaurant no money was taken, it was, and 6 calendar days later still no sign of a refund.
