dynamic, engaging, and fun: Danish-learning for the busy modern life
I’m a busy professional who is learning Danish from overseas in the US. While traditional language schools have their place, I needed a more dynamic solution to meet my needs. I’ve tried several different options, and here’s why Learning With Ervin has worked best for me: PASSION. Ervin has a passion and enthusiasm for teaching Danish that is positively infectious. When someone is so excited to teach, it’s almost impossible not to be equally excited to learn. I’ve been taking individual lessons for a few months now, and they’re always a bright spot in my day. CUSTOMIZED LESSONS. Let’s face it, sometimes learning a new language can be boring. Ervin avoids that pitfall by incorporating your personal interests into the lessons, and it’s been a great motivator to learn. Who among us doesn’t love talking about their favorite things? NATURAL TEACHING STYLE. Ervin has a way of seamlessly integrating into a sentence the English translation of more difficult Danish words, without ever disrupting the flow of conversation. It’s such a subtle, brilliant way to teach new words, and is actually what made me reach out for lessons after stumbling upon the Learning With Ervin podcast. SAFE ENVIRONMENT. I hate making mistakes. HATE it, with the passion of a thousand fiery suns—yes, even in a language I’m still learning. Ervin is great at giving corrections in a way that feels collaborative, rather than critical. In other words, he never makes you feel dumb. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE. Ervin has always worked with me to find a time that fits into my busy schedule, many time zones away. He’s also generally been accommodating (schedule permitting) if I get stuck in a meeting, or otherwise have an unexpected few minutes’ delay. DEDICATION. You won’t find anyone more dedicated to teaching Danish than Ervin. Ervin doesn’t just teach, he creates an immersive experience. Among other things, he records and shares snippets of his life every day via Instagram stories; hosts a podcast; and is incredibly responsive to WhatsApp messages. A traditional language school can be so impersonal; Learning With Ervin is anything but. I took a trip to Denmark last month, and virtually everyone spoke native-pace Danish with me. If Ervin can get me speaking, living abroad without any Danish-speakers in my everyday life, then he can certainly help you cross that bridge, too.
