"Do NOT consider Coastal Moving Services

"Do NOT consider Coastal Moving Services for your move. Extremely poor customer service and is dishonest/shady about costs. I got quote estimates for my cross country move from over a dozen moving companies and went with Coastal because they provided the cheapest estimate. I was moving a 10x10x10 storage unit (1000cu ft max) from MD to WA. Steve Sanchez gave me the final estimated quote of 350cu ft for $3900. I sent the exact dimensions and a photo of everything that is in the storage unit and SPECIFICALLY asked if everything in the photo would be included in the quote. Steve reassured me that "as long as you are not hiding another storage unit somewhere everything will fit in our truck with no hidden fees". He was either incompetent and misguided or intentionally lying to me as my move ended up costing a total of over $7k. The contract allows for cancellation within a 72hour window, but the "inventory call" was done after that time so that when they increased the price I had no ability to cancel. I sent the same storage unit dimensions and picture to the inventory specialist and he added 100cu ft and $1000 to the quote. I texted Steve explaining my frustration with the price increase and lack of transparency, He sent a very apologetic message and admitted that he did reassure me and will "do my best to correct this, let me circle back with you after reviewing everything with the team". Never heard from him again after dozens of calls and text attempts. Other complaints: -Customer Service not apologetic or helpful during move process when quote was escalated -They did not call the right number on move out day. -Almost went to the wrong address after I verified 3x -Moving team filled 750cu ft (not 450cu ft quoted) and charged an ADDITIONAL 4k. (how can you be 300cu ft and 4k off when you have exact dimensions and a picture?) After months of complaints and calls to customer service, Brittanie was the only empathetic person who tried to help us. We were reimbursed 1k which was appreciated but not reflective of the original quote we were expecting. This is a public review *EDIT: in response to Coastals reply: -my husband Daniel called customer service to complain and we were finally escalated to management for a reimbursement after our move was done. During the move, I called and texted to report my frustrations countless times. -while we did receive and appreciate a reimbursement, it still was not reflective of the original quote we were given and paid over 3k more than expected which is understandably still frustrating -we did accept the reimbursement and agree not to sue or file any other claims. A public review of opinion is NOT a direct violation of said agreement.
