Having tough times? Got negative equity? Tough! PAY US
I actually decided to go with OCF for purchase of a vehicle in 2022 which all went relatively fine. Things were good at my end and were actually very good until I reached March 2024 when I lost my job and was left with a debt of £35k from a previous employer. I tried to explain this to OCF and they just literally bombarded me for requests to pay, email, text message, telephone calls and whilst I continued to explain my situation, literally it did not matter one bit to them. I further explained that I would make every effort to put them back on track and get my account up to date. For SIX months, I tried to explain this without success and then, as promised, my situation changed and I brought my account up to date and have paid continously since this point. However in May 2025, my car unfortunately was no longer working properly which left 2 years of finance on the car. I cannot pay for two cars, so I obtained a much lesser car and with the thought process and calculations I made, I could sell the car and arrange a payment plan to ensure that OCF got every cent back. Their response? You got it right! We do not care - pay us. We do not accept payment plans, if you sell the car to someone else, we will repossess it. When I tried to explain to them that I simply did not have this kind of money lying around and I have no option other than to arrange a payment plan, their advice was simply pay it or we will default you. It should also be noted that I had actually sold the car at this point which later fell through because of this instance, they wanted the balance paying in full. So after months of back and forth, they did give me options - 5 options in fact, 4 of which involved paying them in full - the 5th one leaving me open to so much opportunity for OCF to screw me it is unethical. The 5th option being (remembering that I had already sold the car) that they would take the car back voluntarily, value it and I would be responsible for any and all repairs to the vehicle - which their are some, I do not doubt and then they would mark my credit file and on top of this, they could demand more money. Now, whilst I acknowledge that it is not OCF fault that the vehicle in question has not lasted the term of the finance, that is on me...the fact that they are so unbeliveably obstructive when I am trying to negotiate working out a settlement (which I have pointed out on multiple occasions that I will settle in full). So now, I am left in the situation where I have to accept their option under duress or take this matter to court. If it is the latter, then given my experience in this field, they will find their conduct to be overly unfair. Response to Chris 16-6-25: I am afraid I do not want to talk to you as per my ongoing correspondence. If you had taken the time to read my file before responded, you would have noted that Oodle Car Finance have threatened legal action. Therefore, all correspondence should therefore be in writing in order to obtain a substantial paper trail. Furthermore, instead of perhaps just responding here - you could have been pro-active and actually called me in an effort to address this matter but essentially, you just pushed the onus back on me.
