Brilliant experience with Zest!
Having never hired a car in a foreign country before, I was a bit unsure on navigating the minefield that is online car rental bookings. I trust greatly the Which magazine/website so immediately went to them to find a good company to use for my hire. Zest came up as the ONLY car rental booking site that is Which recommended, followed through and made a straight forward booking on the Zest website for a car to collect from Heraklion Airport. The booking experience was clear and straightforward, all fees are clearly stated in black and white so you know exactly what your paying in advance and again in person with the Hire company at your destination. The instructions given to locate the car rental desk at Heraklion was accurate and collection of the car was completed with no issue at all. In my case we booked the car through a company called Alma, they were the cheapest on-site airport rental at Heraklion but don't be put off by their cheap prices, the car was clean, tidy and in good mechanical order. No pressure sales at collection either, which again I expected as Zest claims to only work with hire companies that meet their standards. Car inspection was also easy and straight forward. Pre-authorisation deposit was taken at the price agreed when booking with Zest. The friendly staff member gave me directions to the nearest petrol station for a top up before hitting the road. The return of the vehicle was again completed with no issues at all, returned to the same location on site at Heraklion Airport. Quick inspection of the vehicle with a staff member took about 60 seconds, given the thumbs up and off we went. Pre-authorisation deposit was returned to my credit card before we even got to the terminal building! All in all, brilliant experience booking with Zest. Will be my go to for car hire in the future!
