Chance of success currently 0% - complete lottery
Chance of success currently 0% (out of a completely non-representative two attempts). But joking aside, I’ve now had two “Sorry, we’ve had to amend your sale” emails despite meeting the published terms and conditions for the condition tier I selected. Not sure if there are internal quotas on how many phones they actually accept at the full advertised value, but it’s starting to feel that way. They’re really nitpicking now. One iPhone 11 was knocked down for “yellowing of the LCD” and “NFC not working”. For the record, I was using Apple Pay right up to the point I erased it. I asked for evidence and got some photos, but they didn’t show anything you wouldn’t expect from a phone of its age. Apple iPhone 11 64GB Unlocked – Screen has yellow marks visible in the display. This is common around the edges of the LCD as the device ages. Apple iPhone 11 64GB Unlocked – NFC is either not working or malfunctioning. This means that the contactless payment function of the device will not work. To be fair, retentions did get involved and upped the offer by over 40% – from £35 to £50 – but that’s still well below the original £85 that was quoted. The other phone? Battery at 84% health, but came back flagged as “significantly degraded” despite the highest tier simply requiring 80%. It was in immaculate condition and will fetch £130 on Ebay - £40 feels just a bit insulting. All in all, it’s a lottery. I should’ve just put them on eBay to start with. In fairness, customer service is responsive, polite, and to the point (this is the two stars) – but this is the second time I’ve had one of those dreaded “sale amended” emails, and I’m done.
