Organisation of accommodation needs improvement
While this was a good trip overall, aided by a very good tour leader, it was marred by very poor organisation pre tour and some questionable hotel choices. The poor organisation included incorrect pick-up and transfer information for arrival at the airport. But worst of all was the tour start hotel. Prior to our arrival in Venice it had changed 3 times and the last advice to us and our fellow travellers was also wrong. It was only after I the EU help desk and waited half an hour that I was advised of a 4th hotel which turned out to be the correct one. But to get to it we had to drag our luggage across the busy tourist part of Venice. This makes it impossible to book extended pre and post tour accommodation with any confidence. During the tour itself there seemed to be one late hotel change as well. While the hotels were generally good, the group was allocated a mix of good and poor rooms something that should be addressed by Intrepid. One hotel was pretty disorganised and often essential items (towels, soap etc) were missing from some rooms. Overall this detracted from the experience, particularly compared to a previous Intrepid tour. After my review was posted, I got the automated reply from Intrepid and an email but not actual response or action.
